PDG Michael & Kim Brown
Michael Brown is a Past District Governor (2012-13) for district 6690 covering Central and Southeast Ohio compromising 59 clubs and 3500 members. He currently serves his district as the Council on Legislation Delegate for both the 2016 and 2019 councils. In Zones 30-31, Mike further serves Rotary as Technology Specialist for Zones 30-31.
Mike is a member of the Rotary Club of Olentangy, Powell, Ohio since 2003. Prior to moving to Ohio, he was a member of the Rotary Club of Perrine/Cutler Ridge/Palmetto Bay of district 6990 covering southeast Florida. He serves as club president in 2001-02, earning both the RI Presidential Citation and RI Significant Achievement Award.
Mike’s career is in retail management and marketing both domestically and internationally and is now retired from the JCPenney Company. In 1994 he was selected as one of four individuals to be part of initial management team for Penney’s expansion into South America and Chile. Mike and his wife, Kim relocated to Santiago de Chile where he was General Merchandise Manager. In 1998 they relocated to Miami Florida where he was store manager in Cutler Ridge.
His background allows him to help clubs understand and communicate their value proposition to their members and potential members within their community. Mike also supports various Rotary entities with his work on developing and maintaining their websites and databases, including districts 6690 and 6670, Zones 30-31 and 33-34 plus All Ohio P.E.T.S., in addition to numerous club websites that he also developed.
Mike and Kim currently reside in Westerville (near Columbus) Ohio. They are both originally from Detroit Michigan. Kim works for Nationwide Insurance Company as Vice President for Property and Causality Corporate Compliance. Although Rotary is taking most of his time these days, he enjoys woodworking, custom furniture making, home renovation, fishing, poker, travel and restoring his two 1955 Dodgem (bumper) Cars. In the late 80’s Mike and Kim completely renovated a 1923 farmhouse from the ground up. Mike and Kim are also Major Donors, level 2 and Bequest Society members.
